65 Teams in 65 Days: #64 Radford

Location: Radford, VA
Nickname: Highlanders
Conference: Big South
Last Year’s Record: 21-12

Radford C Artsiom Parakhouski
Radford C Artsiom Parakhouski

Why they’ll make it: The Highlanders return four starters including the reigning Newcomer of the Year, Artsiom Parakhouski. The double-double machine powers a team coming off its first NCAA appearance in eleven years. Throw Joey Lynch-Flour in the mix and now you have 1-2 punch in the low-post that’s virtually unstoppable in a conference such as the Big South. The Highlanders experience and, with the addition of a solid recruiting class, depth, once again makes them the favorite in the Big South. Head Coach Brad Greenberg isn’t the only member of the family with a top-notch program in Southwestern Virginia.

Why they won’t make it: The only obstacle between Radford and a return trip to the Big Dance is VMI. The Keydets may have lost the Holmes twins, but their style of play still makes them a threat. Austin Kenon and Keith Gabriel have proven themselves of being very capable of picking up the slack for the Keydets. If the Highlanders slip up, the Keydets will be happy to take advantage of their misfortune.
